If the issue is with the sensors you ll likely find that you can use the garage door remote or wall mounted switch to open the door but not to close it.

Door doesnt open or close until i unplug.
Cold weather can affect safety sensors in a number of ways.
One of the most common reasons a garage door won t open in cold weather is that the metal has contracted.
The garage door limit settings isn t set properly.
Sometimes you ll notice that your garage door closes all the way and then immediately goes back up instead of staying in the closed position.
If you re still having problems then the cold temperatures may have caused the brackets that hold the runners for the garage door in place to become misaligned due to contraction of the metal in the cold weather.
The cold of winter can sometimes result in your garage door closing but being unable to open well.
Check them to make sure they re correctly in place and if not adjust them so that they are.
Wipe them very gently with a soft cloth to avoid upsetting the calibration.
If i let go of the bottom the door stops.
This is almost always the result of a dirty or obstructed safety feature.
Now if your garage door still won t go down after you ve made sure the sensors are properly aligned and there s no obstructions you ll want to take a damp cloth and wipe down the lenses of the sensors.
Overtime these lenses can become coated with grime dirt and even sawdust.
There is one on each side of the door.
You push the button to close the garage door.
If the door goes up but you can t make it go down you probably need to adjust the sensors.
