Use a file to widen the hole on the strike or remove the strike with a screwdriver and reposition it on the jamb.
Garage door jammed.
A pulley can become jammed by an obstruction or possibly a misaligned or hung up cable.
Your jammed garage door can be caused by something as simple as an obstruction in the track.
Enter the garage by the side door then you can open the main door using the internal handle.
Check to see if anything a shovel broom etc fell and is now stuck in the track that is causing it to be lodged.
If there is something in one of the tracks obstructing the free movement of the rollers the garage door can stick open.
And even worse is if you are locked in.
Here are some things to try as you troubleshoot a jammed garage door.
Check the alignment of the deadbolt against the strike on the jamb if the lock is difficult to turn when the door is closed or the door doesn t lock at all.
If something you re storing in your garage fell on the track while the door was opening it could get stuck in the track.
When you pull down on the rope the carriage releases from the base and you can operate the door manually.
The release cord is on the carriage connecting the door opener arm to the opener track.
Jammed or obstructed track your garage door works because the garage door opener unwinds or winds the torsion springs pulling or pushing the garage door with rollers along a track.
You can continue to use the door this way until you have the lock and or handle connection repaired.
If you find that your garage door is reversing before even hitting the floor then it could be possible that there is a problem with the close force setting.
Check for an obstruction visually inspect the track and see if something is wedged in it to obstruct it.
A garage door that is out of alignment can be very frustrating especially if it s jammed so tight you re locked out of your garage.
And even worse is if you are locked in.
Any problems with springs or pulley should be examined by a garage door professional.
