A clogged drain pipe is the most common cause of standing water in the drain pan. The pan is a delicate mechanism and can easily be disturbed by work being done around the air handler or the odd bump or nudge to the unit. Is your furnace leaking water when the ac is on. If you notice water around the furnace the condensate drain may be clogged with slime. Most central air conditioning air handlers have user serviceable condensation pans so consult the manual and remove the cover on the side of the handler. As air passes over the evaporator coils in your air conditioner it cools down and loses some of its humidity. The techs have been out a couple of times to unclog the drain but it continues to leak water.

Use a flashlight to inspect the drain pan located inside the air handler. There are many parts in the furnace that can leak drip or crack causing a water leak. A clogged condensate drain line is the most common cause of water leaking from your ac into your home. Indoor water problems aren t only during the summer.
